Anti-rust treatment with Dinitrol for a Citroën 2CV

|2CV lovers who have just had their car restored will naturally want to protect their car as well as possible.Because rust never rests, and can crop up in the most unexpected locations. Unfortunately, just because a 2CV doesn’t have any rust spots on the outside, doesn’t mean it is rust-free on the interior.|
Rust behaves differently with every 2CV, although there are some locations that are particularly rust-sensitive, such as the bonnet hinge, floor plates and so on.
When it comes to anti-rust treatment, we have a standard procedure so that we can guarantee top-quality treatment:
We start by looking at the current condition of the Citroën 2CV. We locate the rust and see how we can remedy it. Using an endoscope we are able to take a close look in the hollow spaces, places that are not visible to the naked eye, such as the inside of a chassis. As part of this assessment, we look to see whether a Dinitrol treatment will have the desired effect. It may be that some parts are beyond treatment and the only way to solve the problem is to replace the part (such as the chassis).
If you bring your 2CV in for treatment, we will provide you with a price quote based on what we have seen and any special requirements you may have. We then look at the quote together and if we are to apply the treatment, we look at the schedule. You need to take account of the fact that your 2CV will be out of commission for a number of days. This is due to drying time requirements and the like.
When we start, we first make sure the car is clean and dry. We pressure-wash all of the parts to be treated, which reveals all of the rust. After cleaning, the car has to be dried and we disassemble any parts that obstruct our access to hollow spaces.
First we mask all of the parts that are not going to be treated. We then apply Dinitrol ML to the rust-sensitive parts of the 2CV. This product penetrates deeply into the layer of rust and stops the rusting process. The product is very fluid, which enables it to get into all the nooks and crannies properly to ensure that damp and dirt cannot attack the metal any longer. Once dry, this product forms a waxy layer that neatly seals all of the cracks and crevices. Finally, we treat the underside of the car with Dinitrol Sealant. This product ensures that the layer of ML is protected against stones, road grit and other dirt. This product does not dry out entirely and remains elastic, which provides additional protection.
After the treatment is complete, we re-assemble all of the parts that may have been dismantled and the car then has to dry so that all of the products can work in properly. After this stage, the car is ready to go and will be waiting, shining and fully protected against rust for you!
